1. New Years Eve Party
It would have been hard to beat the first annual New Years Eve Party but that is just what happened. With a live band, lovely food, a marquee and a bouncy castle for the children there was plenty for all those attending. If that is not enough we also had most people turning up in fancy dress, including a large number of Oompa Loompas. So it was a resounding success.
Fitting Out Bash on Saturday, 23 April 2011 - We are kicked off the Sailing Season with a Bang (or a Bash). Peggy excelled herself with some traditional faire. It is difficult to single out one part as the Bangers delicious onion gravy were then finished off with a lovely "Club" made Apple and Blackberry Crumble (made with blackberries from Peggy's own allotment).

Mid-Summer BBQ, 26 June 2010 - This was a fantastic event. The function room was filled to overflowing with many people having to sit outside. Chris and Peggy provided an excellent spread and Rock of Ages provided the entertainment. It was great to see so many of you there.

Club Regatta - On 22nd and 23rd May 2010 the Club held the first of two regattas. As well as two full days of sailing there was a barbeque in the evening with live music from Rock of Ages. On Sunday we tried to have the annual Nab Tower Cruise but due to lack of wind about 13 of us were stuck in Sandown Bay not going anywhere. I'm hoping we have another go.

Fitting Out Supper - On 24th April 2010 the Club had its Annual Fitting Out Supper. This year we had a Curry Night cooked by Peggy and Chris. Well over 30 people attended this very special night. The different types of curry were delicious and I cannot wait for the next one. After the meal the chat turned to how many different ways people had capsised and the numerous different ways their boats had been damaged, all of them worthy of appearing in our Talk Back Page.

Fun Sail Day in the Bay at Yaverland on Saturday 21 November 2009. The Club held a fun day for Children In Need on Saturday 21 November 2009. The plan was to have a sponsored sail in the morning but this was changed as the weather was so bad. Instead we took out our kayaks and tried to get past the large breakers. Afterwards (with lots of outlandish stories to tell) we socialised in the club house with lovely hot chili served from the kitchen. Cakes were also sold to raise money. At the end of a fantastic day we raised an incredable sum of £433.48.

Nab Cruise - On Saturday, 22 August 2009 some of the sailors took a cruise to the Nab Tower. The weather could not have been better - hardly a cloud in the sky and winds at just the right speed.

Yaverland Racing Fun Day - On 8 August 2009 the Club played host to a day of racing for both mono-hulls and catamarans. A fantastic day was had by all so well done to everyone who helped. But a special thank you should go to the organiser, Ian. There was only a couple of small problems but they did not spoil the day at all. Due to the light winds the main race to Shanklin was shortened to Sandown Pier and back again. Boats from all over the Island competed in the races throughout the day with the prizegiving in the evening.

Yaverland Sailing and Boating Club Open Day - We all had a fantastic Open Day. There was a lot of interest throughout the day with all the Picos out on the water all day and a steady stream of people wanting rides on my catamaran and on the rib. Our "trainee" chef did an excellent job with the barbeque so a big Well Done to all concerned.

Mid Summer BBQ - On Saturday 27 June 2009 the Club had its annual Mid Summer barbeque. We all had a fantastic time with what seemed like the whole Membership there. Chris and his team up on a gorgeous spread as usual including burgers, hot dogs and vegetable kebabs. All of this was topped off with excellent entertainment provided by Rock Of Ages.

The Fitting Out Supper was on Saturday 4 April 2009. Although poorly attended those that did go had a great time.

Saturday, 19th July 2008 - BBQ with live entertainment starting at 7.30 pm and carrying on until late. Over 60 Members and their families turned up for this Event and we all had a great time eating, drinking and enjoying the live music. As well as the mouth-watering burgers we also had some tangy chicken pieces and for dessert someone brought along a fresh fruit salad. The band, called "Rock of Ages", was excellent as usual, playing lots of well known favourites that us "oldies" could sing along to.

Saturday, 7th and Sunday, 8th June 2008 - Kayak and Fishing Weekend with BBQ. This was an excellent event and I hope its held again next year. Saturday was a free-for-all with the beach packed out with sailing boats, kayaks and jetski's. I got some excellent pictures that will be added soon. Later in the afternoon I pitched my tent next to some lovely people from the mainland before heading for the BBQ. I spent the evening chatting to loads of people before staggering off to bed. Got up at 7am to another glorious day. After having a shower I helped with the cooking of the full English breakfasts for all the fishermen and kayakers. We then all headed out into the bay (I was in the rescue boat) and we headed over to Shanklin for refreshments before heading back. I then spent an enjoyable afternoon sailing round the bay. Its impossible to single out one person for praise as so many people made this a very enjoyable weekend but I would like to thank Olly for the lovely fresh Mackerel he gave me - they were lovely.

Saturday, 31st May 2008 - Sailing Open Day with a BBQ. This Event was very successful with a lot of people coming along to look round. Lots of food was sold and the Bar stayed open until 7.30 pm.

Saturday, 24th May 2008 - The Laying Out Supper was a great success with approximately 45 people attending. An excellent spread was laid on and everyone there had plenty to eat.

Although the sea was a little rough several hardy sailors sailed out into Sandown Bay to watch the Round The Island Yacht Race (see Gallery for pictures of the event).
