This page is where we have a detailed look at the boats that are stored at the Club. Gradually I hope to add more boats to the list. I'd love to feature your boat here. I just need to take some close up photos of it and I'll need you to write some sailing notes to accompany the pictures.
The Pico Pico Breakdown
On the Pico its Mainsheet is controlled from the front. It joins the Boom half way along and then feeds along the Boom towards the back, feeds down to the stern and is connected to a traveller.

You can see clearly from this picture that the Pico sail can very easily be reefed simply by wrapping it around the mast. This is possible because the sail does not have any battens.

The Pico has a centreboard that has to be raised before landing.

The Hobie Wave Pico Breakdown
The Wave is an excellent beginners catamaran because it is easy to rig and the impact-resistant polyethylene roto-molded hulls make the boat indestructible. I found this out when I crashed my boat into a groyne and came away without a scratch.

It has two padded seats on either hull and two easy lock rudders, The sail is fully battened and square topped increases the sail area. Mast head float prevents the boat from turtling.

Being indestructible does have its disadvantage because it is very heavy for its size. The Sprint 15, which is a larger boat weighs on 104kg compared with the 13' Wave, which weighs 118kg. This extra weight causes me problems when bringing up the boat from the beach and I currently cannot do it on my own.

I'm still only a beginner so I've still got a lot to learn about sailing a Wave. However, it is an excellent beginners boat because it need very little knowledge to sail it. Also, the large sail area allows the boat to move even in the lightest of winds and the heavy hulls help prevent the boat capsizing.
